Start with dry hair so you don’t inadvertently fry your locks. Then divide hair into smaller sections, and run your GHD flat iron through each section one by one. Don’t make more than one or two passes per section of hair; too much heat can be damaging, even with the best iron. Finish with some shine spray or serum. It probably helps if you lop off a few inches and start rocking an elegant bob like Ms. Panettiere, but no matter how long your hair is, a flat iron can be a real hero on those mornings (or evenings) when nothing but the straightest, most frizz-free hair will do.

• Always unplug after every use.
• Allow to cool completely before putting away. It’s a good idea to buy a special heatproof mat so you can rest your flat iron on it while it cools down. I keep mine on the bathroom counter.
• Don’t wrap the cord around the iron! You’ll seriously damage it over time and it will break. Instead, get a storage case with a separate compartment for the cord.
• Never use abrasive cleaners on the plates, and don’t submerge them in water to clean. Instead, use a special flat iron cleaner you can buy at any beauty supply store to remove product buildup. (If the problem is just a little dust, you can use a soft cloth to wipe off the plates.)
• If the hinge becomes loose, you can tighten it yourself. It’s just a simple screw holding the arms together.

Check out that hair! It’s so Courtney Love and so very rocker chic. It looks great and its not too difficult to imitate if you want to try that for your own hair. I actually use my GHD flat iron to get Taylor’s rockin’ look and it work out pretty well if I may say so myself. Most of her hair is straightened, take extra special care on the top from the roots to about halfway down. From there, sometimes its styled into haphazard waves and in some parts its straightened the rest of the way. For the bangs, be sure to curl your GHD flat iron in so the tips fall against your forehead and don’t come straight down.

As for final touches; I’d add a little bit of product to give it that extra bounce. Perhaps rub some moose on your hands and then scrunch of bits of hair with it.
